Nitro World War I Museum, Nitro, WV

The man in charge of the museum is also in charge of the food bank next door. Sadly, during the two hours I spent photographing this marvelous collection of disorganized miscellanea, there were almost a dozen call inquiring about the food bank. The city of Nitro was built in a matter of months as a munitions factory and the city to support it. Unfortunately, or fortunately, the war ended before production could be ramped up. One of the points of pride is that Clark Gable worked as a common laborer in building the munitions camp.
